Our opinion on the Cadillac BLS is that is feels like a re-bodied Saab. However, the vehicle itself is quite attractively priced, does give good value for money and is pretty well equipped. Don\'t expect good resale value as the brand is not highly sought after in the UK. The diesel engine is refined (surprising for an American motor), and it is quite stylish looks wise. You can choose between 4 different engines across the range, including a pair of 2.0-litre turbocharged engines producing 173bhp and 207bhp. There\'s also a 252bhp 2.8-litre turbocharged V6. However, the 150bhp, 1.9 litre turbo diesel should be the model of choice. Being a V6 it has a good turn of pace. Gearbox is a bit sluggish, in accordance with the steering. Handling also leaves a bit to be desired. Even though the underpinnings of the car come from European manufacturers (mainly Saab), there is far too much roll in the corners, and is more than a wee bit uncomfortable on hard or broken road surfaces. The Cadillac BLS does cruise well on motorways, however, soundproofing at higher speed again leaves a lot to be desired. There are more attractive alternatives available in this class.
