Road test drive, video and written reviews of the new Alfa Romeo Mito. Where they ever so popular AlfaSud of the 19070s and 80s left us, the Mito is rumoured to fill the void. The Sud was long admired for its driving enthusiam and power at a relatively cost effective price, rather than its reliability. Taking the first two letters of the cars place of inception (Milan), and the place where it is built (Torino), the name for the long awaited new supermini From Alfa Romeo has been born. Mito is also Italian for myth.The video review and road test comes courtesy of YT and NewCarNet. Technically, the Alfa Romeo Mito shares a lot in common with the Fiat Punto, which, incidentally, is based on the Vauxhall / Opel Corsa. Alfa have made worthy upgrades, most notably to the styling, tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, engine spec and seating. Prices should start around £13000 to £14000. It will propel you from a standing start to 62 mph in about 8 seconds and has a top speed of 134 mph all dependent on which model you opt for. So what has it really got going for it. Well the Mito from Alfa Romeo has classic Italian styling and the Italian heritage. The 1.4 turbo petrol engine can be described as lively. There are also some very economical diesel engines to choose from and the cabin pretty good too.
